The Kapitan Dranitsyn Icebreaker to Participate in the Barents-2013 Exercise

In accordance with the agreement between the Government of Russia and the Government of Norway dated 04.10.1995 on cooperation for the search of the missing persons and rescue of persons in distress in the Barents Sea, the international Russian-Norwegian exercise Barents 2013 is to be held on 4-6 May 2013.

The Russian side is represented by marine vessels and subdivisions of the sea rescue and coordination center of the FSE Administration of Murmansk Seaport, Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in Murmansk Region, Northern Navy of Russia, FSUE Baltiyskoye Water Basin Department, FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch, and also other organizations and state bodies. The Norwegian side will be represented by marine and air crafts of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre of Northern Norway in the town of Bodo, Eastern Finnmark Police Department, departments of other state bodies.

In order to train the skills of cooperation of the rescue forces during the rescue operations at sea, and also to participate in the presentations of the Barents-2013 exercise the Kapitan Dranitsyn icebreaker of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch left Murmansk Seaport on 3 June 2013 to Port of Kirkenes, Norway, where the exercise will be held.
