North-Western Basin Branch News

North-Western Basin Branch Fleet Replenishment

The fleet of the North-Western Basin Branch was replenished by the new inshore survey boat Project 1100, Solyaris, in December 2016.

This vessel was built by the shipyard of OOO Astron-Marin (St Petersburg, Russia) and given to the Branch for the operation after successful harbor and sea acceptance trials.

The Solaris vessel Project 1100 is the first-in-class ship among the vessels that have been ordered by the North-Western Basin Branch for the construction.

Up-to-date electrical and radio navigation equipment, as well as the multibeam echo sounder due to be used to plumb in the Ust Luga seaport water area has been installed aboard the vessel. The inshore survey boat has good maneuverability and shallow draft that will allow for making the survey of bottom configuration on soundings. The naval architecture envisions a trunk in the vessel hull where the sounder has been assembled that will make it possible to lift and lower this sounding equipment when passing to another area of the works and also exclude its damage in mooring and in ice conditions.

The Solaris inshore survey boat has become the eighth navigation support vessel that the North-Western Basin Branch operates and the 56th vessel within the Branch’s fleet.

At present, the North-Western Branch completes documents to obtain a certificate of classification.

The vessel is expected to start marine survey works in the Ust Luga seaport in April 2017 after it obtains necessary authorization documents.
