Expansion of the Seaport of Kaliningrad

By the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 2701-r dated January 17, 2016 it was decided to expand the seaport of Kaliningrad by inclusion of the artificially created areas and lands into the composition of its borders for the constructions of the International Marine Terminal for cruise ships and cargo vessels in Pionersky.

In accordance with the Decree of the Russian Government the creation of artificial areas and construction of infrastructure facilities in the Kaliningrad seaport, as well as installation of border-crossing checkpoints at the state border of the Russian Federation, is assigned to the FSUE “Rosmorport”.

International Marine Terminal Construction Project for the reception of cruise and cargo ships in the area of Pioneer city of Kaliningrad region includes:
- the formation of an artificial area of 3.4 hectares;
- dredging works in the amount of 1.2 million cubic meters with the bottom marks up to 10.9 m;
- the construction of hydraulic structures 765 m in length;
- construction of two berths with a length of 725 m of berthing front to handle the ships of the following size: length 317.25 m, width of 36.8 meters and with draft of 8.3 m;
- the construction of the marine terminal general port facilities including the marine station and the cross-border checkpoint passenger facilities of the Russian Federation;
- the construction of engineering support structures and installation of marine terminal facilities for navigation;

This project will allow for the maximum daily passenger flow through the marine terminal in the amount of 2.4 thousand people per day and maximum cargo capacity amounted to 80 thousand cargo transport units per year, ultimately, contributing to the dynamic development of the Kaliningrad region in the field of ferry and cruise transportation.
