Palia Juveniles Release into the Ladoga Lake

On October 27, 14.5 thousand pieces of palia were released into the Ladoga lake near Vladimirovka vil. of the Priozersky district in the presence of representatives of the North-Western Territorial Department of Rosrybolovstvo within environmental protection activities implemented by the North-Western Basin Branch, related to compensation of damage to aquatic bioresources and their habitats caused when carrying out repair dredging in the seaport of Ust-Luga water area in 2015.

The North-Western Basin Branch expenses on purchasing palia from specialized fishing organization and their further release amounted to 2.3 mln rubles.

This release of palia juveniles, average weight of which was 54.45 grams per piece, became the second in 2016 and the eights from the start of implementation of activities on artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources as a compensation for the damage caused by carrying out maintenance dredging in the sea ports Big Port Saint Petersburg and Ust-Luga.

In total for these purposes, in the period from 2012 to the present, the North-Western Basin Branch spent 48.5 mln rubles on purchasing and release of 552 pieces of juveniles of whitefish, palia, atlantic salmon and brown trout.
