Ecological Expertise Positive Conclusion for The Construction Project of International Marine Terminal for Receiving Cruise and Cargo Vessels in The Seaport of Kaliningrad Received

Rosprirodnadzor Department for Kaliningrad Region Order No. 24-E dated 12.08.2016 approves the positive conclusion of the ecological expertise for the construction of an international sea terminal for receiving cruise and cargo vessels in the seaport of Kaliningrad near the city of Pionersky of the Kaliningrad region.

According to the results of the examination, compliance of the design documentation with the environmental requirements of the Russian Federation in the field of environmental legislation and the possibility of implementing the project are approved.

On the basis of the existing port infrastructure facilities, located on the Samland Peninsula in a small bay between Cape Gvardeisky and Cape Kupalny, the construction project envisages building of a complex of hydraulic and all-port structures, including construction of passenger terminal building and check point through the state border of the Russian Federation facilities, as well as creation of engineering maintenance facilities and installation of navigational aids.

With the use of this passenger terminal, project implementation will allow ensuring cruise shipping in the amount of not less than 225 thousand passengers per year and 110 cruise vessels calls per year, as well as ferry shipping in the amount of not less than 80 thousand passengers and at least 80 thousand rolling cargo units per year, with 312 vessel calls per year.

Currently, the project documentation and results of engineering studies in the prescribed manner are submitted to the state expertise committee in FAI “Glavgosexpertiza Russia” for consideration.
