Baltic Transport Forum in Kaliningrad

Deputy Director of the North-Western Basin Branch - Head of the Kaliningrad Department Andrey Moshkov took part in the 8th International Baltic transport forum in the city of Kaliningrad.

At the plenary session Andrey Moshkov delivered a report, in which he informed the participants on the dynamics and trends in freight flows in Russian and foreign seaports of the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, and the list of investment projects with the participation of the enterprise for the development of Russian sea ports of port infrastructure. In particular, he elaborated on the plans of building an international sea terminal for receiving cruise and cargo vessels in the seaport of Kaliningrad city of Pioneer. This federal investment project is implemented by FSUE “Rosmorport” in order to facilitate the dynamic development of the Kaliningrad region in the field of ferry and cruise traffic and, as a consequence, is aimed at increasing its tourist attractiveness.

Baltic Transport Forum is an annual platform for discussion of the most pressing issues related to the functioning of the transport and logistics system of the North-Western region of Russia and the Baltic countries.

Traditionally, participants of the forum are the heads and official representatives of rail, sea and road carriers, stevedoring companies and cargo owners, as well as representatives of federal and regional authorities of Russia and the eastern Baltic.

This year, within the forum there were discussed, in particular, issues of organization of goods transit operations to Kaliningrad region, problems of insufficient involvement of the transport network of the north-western region of the country into the European transport and logistics system, issues of financing of transport infrastructure development, transport and customs tariff formation.
