Visit of The Delegation of The Province Of West Flanders In Saint Petersburg

The Delegation of the Province of West Flanders (Belgium) headed by Governor Carl Decaluwé, as well as the Consul General of Belgium in St. Petersburg Filip Cumps visited the North-Western Basin Branch on September 8, 2016.

As part of the planned program the branch organized a visit to Murmansk icebreaker of North-Western Basin Branch for the Belgian guests. The Murmansk icebreaker Captain Yury Ahromkin gave a tour for members of the delegation, spoke in detail about the technical capabilities of new icebreakers of the 21900M project.

On board the icebreaker there was held a working meeting of representatives of the Belgian delegation with the Director of the North-Western Basin Branch Sergey Pylin.

During the meeting, the participants got acquainted with the presentation on the North-Western Basin Branch activities, including the results of ice tests of the newest icebreakers in the Kara Sea, which took place in April 2016.

The representatives of the Belgian delegation, in turn, told Russian colleagues about the activities of the seaports of West Flanders, including the features of the functioning of the Zeebrugge seaport, which takes a special place not only in the country but in the whole Western Europe.

According to the meeting results, the participants expressed hope for further joint expansion of business contacts of the West-Vlaanderen seaports with the North-Western Basin Branch, as well as other Russian port companies operating in the Russian seaports in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland.
