Commissioning of the First Stage of the Approach Channel and Water Area of “Bronka” Multifunctional Sea Transshipping Complex in the Seaport Big Port of Saint Petersburg

In accordance with Resolution No. 78-RU78507311-BB-39/20-2016 dated 27.06.2016 of Rosmorrechflot the first stage of the approach channel and water area of “Bronka” Multifunctional Sea Transshipment Complex equipped with aids to navigation was commissioned in the seaport Big Port of Saint Petersburg was commissioned.

The construction of the approach channel and water area, the customer of which was FSUE “Rosmorport”, was carried out from April 2013 to December 2015 as a part of the “Maritime transport” sub-program of the “Development of Transport System of Russia (2010-2020)” federal target program, in order to ensure safe maneuvering and approach of design vessel with deadweight 22 thousand tons and dimensions: length up to 190 meters, width  up to 30 meters and draft when loaded up to 8.5 meters, to berths of “Bronka” MSTC.

During the construction, the approach channel to “Bronka” MSTC was formed with length of over 6.4 km, width of 150 meters and bottom marks -11.2 meters; complex operational water area was created with width 380 meters, diameter of the turnaround of 420 meters and bottom marks -11.2 meters; front and rear leading marks of linear navigational cross-sections “Bronka-2” and “Bronka-3” were built.

According to the results of dredging, the total amount of excavated ground amounted to nearly 20.2 million. m3, including during construction of the approach channel in volume more than 12.9 million. m3 and when creating water area 7.3 million. m3.

Expenses for the construction of the first stage amounted to over 10.9 billion. rub, which was funded by the allocated to the enterprise federal budget investments.

Currently, a second stage of construction, during which the depth of the approach channel and water area of “Bronka” MSTC will be deepen to the mark -14.4 meters, and the approach channel will be widened to 185 meters, is carried out.  Completion the second stage works on construction, which are carried out well ahead of schedule of the dredging, is planned till the end of 2016.
