Moskva Icebreaker Returned to Saint Petersburg

Diesel-electric Moskva icebreaker of North-Western Basin Branch returned to the port of registry – Big Port Saint Petersburg — after 142-day successful work in the seaport of Sabetta water area.

In the seaport of Sabetta, which is currently under construction, 142 vessels calling at and departing from the seaport were escorted with the help of Moskva icebreaker.  432 sea ice operations on ice breaking were carried out in the seaport water area. including the work on lifting of a sunken object from the 15 meters depth in ice conditions with the use of standard icebreaker diving equipment.

The icebreaker operated under harsh climatic conditions at the ice thickness up to 2 meters and average air temperature –42 С°.

Moskva LK-16 icebreaker of the 21900 project was constructed in 2008 in “Baltiisky Zavod” OJSC.
Moskva icebreaker is the main vessel in the line. It is a two-decked vessel with two full revolving rudder propellers with the total capacity 16 megawatt.
