North-Western Basin Branch Held Command-and-staff Civil Defense Exercises

On June 1 North-Western Basin Branch organized and held command-and-staff civil defense exercises at the Branch facilities in the seaports of the Big Port of Saint Petersburg and Ust-Luga, as well as at the administrative buildings of Vyborg-Vysotsk and Kaliningrad Departments of the branch to examine by the Main Department of the Ministry of Emergency of Russia in Saint Petersburg the implementation of activities of the approved civil defense plan of the  FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch.

In addition to the Branch employees of firefighting departments of the Main Department of Ministry of Emergencies in the city of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad region, FGBI "AMP of the Baltic Sea", OAO "Sea Port of Saint Petersburg", Saint Petersburg transit police of Russian Ministry of Interior on water transport and other organizations.

According to the exercises legend, measures to extinguish a conditional fire on Kapitan Nikolaev icebreaker of the North-Western Basin Branch in conjunction with the calculations of 19 and 42 firefighting units of the Ministry of Emergency in Saint Petersburg, as well as with the involvement of boats of the SISB of the Ministry of Emergency of Russia in Saint Petersburg, were worked out in the seaport Big Port of Saint Petersburg. During the exercises, the crew of Kapitan Nikolaev icebreaker in cooperation with the employers of the Maind Department of the Ministry of Emergency Solutions in Saint Petersburg carried out evacuation of conditional victims from a burning vessel.

At the same time were held events to extinguish the conditional fire in the administration building number 160 on the road-rail ferry complex in the seaport of Ust-Luga in conjunction with staff of fire departments FGKU MOE squad number 37 FPS in the Leningrad region.

Besides, in the administrative buildings of Vyborg-Vysotsk and Kaliningrad departments there were conducted employees evacuation upon "fire drill" signal and worked out personnel actions of first aid.

 During the exercises Branch Coastal VTS Operators were maintaining constant communication with the staff of the exercises, passing information and interacting with all the vessels involved in the exercises, and also solving the problems of ensuring the safety of navigation in the area of the exercise in the seaport Big Port of Saint Petersburg water area.

According to the results of the command-and-staff exercises, actions of the Captain Nikolaev icebreaker crew and employees of the branch involved in the exercises received a positive evaluation of employees of firefighting, law enforcement services and professional rescue divisions and the head of the exercises - Deputy Director for Personnel and Administrative Affairs of the North -Western Basin Branch Alexander Strelnikov.
