On May 23, 2016 the top management of the North-Western Basin Branch represented by Director of the Branch Sergey Pylin, Deputy Director for Economics and Finances Nadezhda Kalashnik, and Deputy Director for Personnel and Administrative Work Alexander Strelnikov took part in the opening ceremony of a bronze sculpture of the outstanding Russian Navy commander, oceanographer, polar researcher, shipbuilder and naval commander Stepan Osipovich Makarov.

The sculpture was installed in the administrative building of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping in celebration of the 140th anniversary of one of the oldest marine educational institutions in the country.

In the framework of the celebration rector of the university Sergey Baryshnikov handed a reduced copy of the sculpture to Sergey Pylin as a sign of gratitude for successful cooperation and close collaboration of the North-Western Basin Branch and Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping aimed at educating the young generation of Russian sailors.
