New Workboat Kapitan Belyaev Set Afloat

On 28 November 2014 the Kapitan Belyaev workboat was solemnly set afloat and the state flag of the Russian Federation was raised on it at berth No. 82 of the Kaliningrad Seaport ferry complex in Baltiysk. The boat of project ST23WI had been built by JSC Okskaya Sudoverf by the order of FSUE “Rosmorport” for its North-Western Basin Branch Kaliningrad Department.

The festive events were attended by the management of FSUE “Rosmorport” North Western Basin Branch, representatives of Government of the Kaliningrad Region, state control authorities and the port industry business community of Kaliningrad Region.

The Kapitan Belyaev workboat has the Ice 2 strengthening and will be used by the North-Western Basin Branch Kaliningrad Department as a crew boat for the staff, including transportation of state committees, crew members and their families, transportation of cargoes up to 0.5 tons, as well as inspection and ecological monitoring of the Kaliningrad Seaport waters and transportation of pilots in the Kaliningrad sea canal and on the approaches to Kaliningrad Seaport.

The nautical qualities of the new workboat enable it to work in severe weather conditions, in particular to operate in open sea with the waves up to 3.5 metres high. To sum up, the Kapitan Belyaev workboat will help to increase significantly the efficiency of pilotage services and crew boat services in Kaliningrad Seaport.

The Kapitan Belyaev workboat was named after Vasily Belyaev, an Honored worker of the Transport Industry who was Kaliningrad Seaport Master from 1997 till 2014.
