In accordance with Rosmorrechflot permit dated 10.11.2014 No. RU77203000-AD-39/36 the reconstructed approach canal in New Harbor Ruchyi has been put into operation in Ust-Luga seaport. It includes the Ust-Luga seaport operation waters with the total area of almost 0.16 km2.

Reconstruction of this object provided by the federal target program called “Development of Transport system of Russia (2010-2020)” was carried by FSUE “Rosmorport” as the project owner and developer from August to November 2012. During the second stage of works 405.7 thousand m3 of soil were dredged up, and the floor marks were brought down to the level of -9.4 metres both in the marine terminal operation waters near berth No. 1 aimed for ro-ro cargo transshipment, and in the turning basin, and to the level of -9.7 metres in the approach canal. Total budget investment, spent on the present project financing, reached 427 mln rubles.

Realization of the project on New Harbor Ruchyi approach canal reconstruction in Ust-Luga seaport allowed vessels with dimensions of up to 140 metres in length, up to 22.7 metres in beam and with draft up to 7.35 metres to enter safely at New Gavan marine terminal, what leads directly to increase in volumes of ro-ro transshipment and general cargo transshipment at the marine terminal berths.
