Patriotic tall ships voyage devoted to Victory Day

Workers of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Branch Kaliningrad Directorate jointly with yachtsmen of the Kaliningrad region took part in a patriotic tall ships’ voyage May 3-4. The voyage was held on the Gulf of Kaliningrad and started in Baltiysk (Russia) by moving to Frombork (Poland) to pay tribute to the memory of soldiers perished in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War.

The voyage involved 19 employees of the Kaliningrad Directorate and 20 crewmembers of nine yachts.

Participants in the voyage laid wreaths at the monument to heroes killed in the battle for the liberation of Pillau (Baltiysk) on the Baltiysk Spit. During the ceremony, the participants observed a minute of silence in memory of soldiers perished during the battle.

The greatest foreign burial of Soviet soldiers killed in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War was located at Branevo, near Frombork, - the final point of the voyage. The participants in the voyage visited the burial and laid wreathes at an unmarked grave where the remnants of over 32,000 dead Soviet soldiers repose. The participants in the voyage observed the minute of silence in memory of dead Soviet soldiers.

As part of the voyage the FSUE “Rosmorport” Cup tall ships’ regatta has been held.

The regatta included two stages and winning places were played in three launch teams.

The first stage took place on the waters of the Gulf of Kaliningrad at the distance of 24 miles and the second one was held at the distance of 12 miles.

The Baltika yacht piloted by Sergei Yevchenko, chief of the Kaliningrad Directorate pilot’s service, took first place in the first group of yachts of over 10 meters in length.

The Caravel yacht piloted by Alexei Shutkin, chief specialist for the fleet of the Federal State Budgetary Culture Institution “The Global Ocean Museum” with crewmembers involving the personnel of the Kaliningrad Directorate, Nikolai Sukhorukov and Vladislav Yesavochkin, took first place in the second group of R yachts of 8-10 meters in length.

The Tesla yacht with workers of the Kaliningrad Dirctorate on its board and piloted by Denis Turashvilli, head of the reception center sector, chief specialist of the communications and power radio navigation, and crewmembers Pavel Koroba, Viktor Tsyplenkov and Igor Nagorny took second place in the same group.
