New Vessel in Astrakhan Branch

The Artemiy Volinskiy dredger has been accepted for operation in the Astrakhan Branch. This is a non-self-propelled dredger, without a hold for soil, with a 600 meters floating pipeline and the maximum suction depth of 18 meters, which is designed for repair dredging.

The dredger was built in 2012-2013 at IHC Beaver Dredgers B.V. (the Netherlands) by order of FSUE “Rosmorport”. In October 2013 parts of the vessel were delivered to Astrakhan by water transport, after which the manufacturer performed assembling of the dredger.

In November 2013 the Artemiy Volynskiy successfully underwent joint sea trials conducted by the manufacturer and the experts of the Astrakhan Branch in the dredging area near the 125-136 km of the Volga-Caspian sea canal. During the trials the crew underwent training and mastered the skills of working with contemporary high-tech equipment. In the end, the highest performance of dredging equipment was reached, which will help the Astrakhan Branch to be more efficient in maintaining the guaranteed depths of the Volga-Caspian sea canal.

At present the Artemiy Volinskiy dredger is performing repair dredging works at the Volga-Caspian sea canal with the aim to reach the estimated dimensions of the canal and provide navigation safety during winter navigation 2013-2014.
