On June 6, 2023, the FSUE “Rosmorport” Sakhalin Branch in the presence of representatives of the Sakhalin-Kuril Territorial Administration of Rosrybolovstvo (Federal Agency for Fishery) and the FSBI “Glavrybvod” Sakhalin branch, released juvenile chum salmon into the Sova River, located in the Kholmsky district of the Sakhalin Region.

197 thousand juvenile chum salmons with an average weight of 0.965 g have been bred by the order of the Sakhalin Branch by a specialized fish hatchery.

This fish release was carried out as part of the environmental protection measures to compensate for damage to aquatic biological resources and their habitat caused by the branch during repair dredging in 2021 in the seaport of Shakhtersk.

The release was the first and only one this year, in accordance with the approved program of compensation measures of the branch for 2023.

The expenses of the Sakhalin Branch for the breeding and release of juvenile chum salmon amounted to 950 thousand rubles.
