Release of the Whitefish Fingerlings into the Gulf of Finland and Trout Fingerlings into Lake Ladoga

As a part of the implementation of the  FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch environmental protection activities relating to compensation for damage to aquatic bioresources and their habitat, caused by the repair dredging works conducted in 2014 in the seaport Passenger port of Saint Petersburg, as well as dredging conducted by a contractor for construction of the approach channel and the water area of the multifunctional marine transshipment complex “Bronka” in the seaport Greater port of Saint Petersburg, in the presence of representatives of the state control and supervisory bodies in the period of 27 to 29 October 2015 almost 51.7 thousand  whitefish yearlings were released  into the Gulf of Finland and 89 thousand of Ladoga brook trout yearlings were released into Lake Ladoga.

The release of whitefish fingerlings, breeded by a specialized company in the Leningrad region for the North-Western Basin Branch with an average weight of 16.1 grams, took place in the area of the navigation pass No. 2 of the complex of protective structures of Saint Petersburg.

In turn, Ladoga brook trout fingerlings with an average weight of 32 grams, breeded for the contracting company performing the construction of the approach channel and water area of the transshipment complex “Bronka”  for FSUE “Rosmorport”  in the seaport of Greater port of Saint Petersburg, were released into the Vladimirskaya Bay of Lake Ladoga.

The expenditure  of  the North-Western Basin Branch on the breeding and release of fingerling whitefish into the Gulf of Finland this year have amounted to nearly 1.9 million rubles, and the expenditure of the construction contractor on the  breeding and release of Ladoga brook trout fingerlings – 12 million rubles.
