Successful Operation of A New Vessel of the North-Western Basin Branch

The fleet of the North-Western Basin Branch in early 2016 was replenished by a new working boat Pilot Baskakov of project WB22МТ-1, built for FSUE “Rosmorport” by PJSC “Yaroslavsky shipbuilding plant”.

The working boat is currently successfully operated by the Ust-Luga Department of the North-Western Basin Branch in the seaport of Ust-Luga for delivery of the branch pilots to vessels calling at the seaport. From the beginning of the year to date, in total the working boat Pilot Baskakov has completed 287 operations on delivery of pilots  to vessels and their removal, and vessels escort on waterways in the seaports of Greater Port St. Petersburg and Ust-Luga.

In the North-Western Basin Branch fleet structure the work boat has become the 16th ship of this type, which the branch operates in the seaports of Greater Port Saint Petersburg, Vyborg, Vysotsk and Ust-Luga. Working boats of the branch, in addition to the above purposes, are used by the branch to survey the condition of waterways, inspection and ecological monitoring of water areas of the respective ports, are involved in the rescue operations and the delivery of the supplies of goods.

Pilot Baskakov working boat was named after the famous pilot  Alexander  Baskakov, who devoted his life to the profession. His own recommendations for vessels calling to berths of the seaport of Arkhangelsk and mooring operations are recorded in book No. 4105 “Manual for navigation of marine vessels in the lower reaches of the Northern Dvina”. Over 50 years of experience Alexander Baskakov never allowed any emergency situation to happen with the vessels under his pilotage, which has been the one and only case in the world. For impeccable work Alexander Baskakov was awarded with the badge “Honorary Worker of Maritime fleet” and received over 50 different awards. General technical characteristics of the vessel:
