Combining Past and Present: Original Photo-Exhibition for 70 Years of Victory Opened in North-Western Basin Branch

The first part of a photo-exhibition dedicated to the Siege of Leningrad, War and Victory set off in the main building of the North-Western Basin Branch. The author of the works is pilot of the North-Western Basin Branch Sergey Larenkov.

The photocollages are unique, because the author not only puts old photos over modern views, but is looking for an uncommon camera angle by using the same angle that a historical photo has. As a result he receives an image that produces effect of historical presence taking the viewer into hard routines of war.

The exhibition is also interesting, because the photos reflect different aspects of Leningraders’ lives starting with the day when militiamen gathered on the Palace Embankment up to the day of harvesting cabbage near Saint Isaac's Cathedral.

Saint-Petersburg citizens and the city guests will be able to visit the exhibition within the festival of icebreakers which is going to take place from 1 to 3 May on Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment and on the English Embankment.
