On 17 October a stage of The Olympic Torch Relay took place in Saint-Petersburg.

The torch was carried along the central streets of the city by 221 torchbearers, among whom was Sergey Pylin, Director of the North-Western Basin Branch. He was entrusted with carrying of the Olympic Flame along the Tuchkov Bridge over the Malaya Neva river.

Sergey Pylin passed the Flame to the famous Russian figure skater Evgeniy Plushenko.
