Drug Trafficking Suppression Exercise in Ust-Luga Seaport

At the road-and-rail ferry complex of the North-West Branch Ust-Luga Department in Ust-Luga Seaport the exercise on maritime drug trafficking suppression was conducted.

According to the exercise legend, smugglers trafficking drugs by sea after being detected were trying to shake off the law-enforcement authority pursuers by the motor boat.

The events were held with the participation of the North-West Customs special rapid reaction unit soldiers, officers of checkpoint on the State Border at Ust-Luga Seaport and of the Ust-Luga Seaport Line Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Saint-Petersburg Line Department, with the assistance of the North-West Branch security office employees.

During the exercise cooperating skills were trained between the crews of the air and sea transport facilities and soldiers of the special units in order to develop the staff practical efficiency in maintaining special operations to neutralize crime members, to train teamwork with security forces of the other law-enforcement authorities including the aim to improve the effectiveness of the implemented measures on providing transport safety of Ust-Luga Seaport objects.

At the end of the exercise the headquarters emphasized the concerted efforts of all the officers of the special units of different agencies having shown expertise, good cooperation and efficient competence during detection and apprehension of the nominal smugglers that promoted achievement of all the aims stipulated by the exercise plan.
