Bull Trout Yearlings Released Into Minoyla River

The fishing company LLC Janisjarvi finished the works on artificial reproduction of bull trout yearlings. These works were performed by order of the North-West Basin Branch with the aim to compensate the damage to the water biological resources caused by repair dredging works in the water area of the Big Port of Saint-Petersburg Seaport.

The reproduction of the bull trout yearlings was performed in the framework of the agreement made by the North-West Basin Branch and the North-West Territorial Department of Rosrybolovstvo. The fishing company raised more than 101 thousand yearlings weighing 12.6 grams each in average. The North-West Basin branch spent almost 12.5 million roubles to finance the works on reproduction of the yearlings and letting them out.

The yearlings were released into the river during 5-13 June, 2013.

The first two sets of yearlings were released near the bridge over the Minoyla River located in the Minoyla village, and the third set – in the Mikli village, in the estuary area in 4 km from Lake Ladoga.

The bull trout yearlings were delivered to the points of release in a special car with two containers for transportation of live fish.
