New Vessel in Kaliningrad Seaport

October 12, 2012, which is the 111th anniversary from the date of creation of the Kaliningrad sea canal, was marked by raising of the state flag on the Vega pilot boat of project P1760 and putting the vessel into operation.

The vessel was constructed by JSC “Leningradsky Sudostroyitel’ny Zavod “Pella”, according to the rules and under technical supervision of the Russian Merchant Shipping Register by order of FSUE “Rosmorport” for the needs of the Kaliningrad Department of the North-West Basin Branch.

The Vega pilot boat named after the brightest star of the lyra and the second brightest star in the Northern hemisphere, which can be observed in Russia, is an auxiliary setting vessel, and is designed for:
- maintenance of navigational aids of the Kaliningrad sea canal and Kaliningrad Bay;
- serving as a crew boat;
- conducting ecological patrol on the Kaliningrad sea canal, particularly in strong weather conditions.

Being put into operation this modern vessel will help to improve quality and quickness of the year-round navigation support in the seaport of Kaliningrad.
