Replenishment of the North-West Basin Branch ice breaking fleet

In accordance with the Rosimuschestvo Saint-Petersburg Territorial Department dated 19.04.2012 № 265-р Captain Plakhin ice breaker was transferred to the FSUE “Rosmorport” on the right of economic authority and then fixed after the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-West Basin Branch by the FSUE “Rosmorport”. Captain Plakhin is the 14th ice breaker of the enterprise, which is operated directly by the branch.

This ice breaker, which was earlier operated by Severo-Zapadnoye Parakhodstvo, PC, was transferred to the operational reserve with the maintenance of vessel's technical means and structures in working conditions till the winter navigation period. After the execution of all the works, the ice breaker will participate the provision of pilotage services in the Big Port of Saint-Petersburg during winter navigation period in 2012-2013.



Additional information:

The vessel was named after the famous captain Panteleimon Andreevitch Plakhin, who worked more than 40 years on river fleet vessels and was recognized as the best captain of the River Fleet Ministry. Plakhin was the first man who pilotages the raft of 30.000 cu.m capacity through Ob.
