Ice navigation restrictions on the Greater port Saint Petersburg approach fairways

By the order of P.P. Parinov, the Greater port Saint Petersburg captain, dated 09.02.2011 № 02-КП-12-р new restrictions on ice navigation routine on the Greater port Saint Petersburg approach fairways are introduced from 00:00 of 10.02.2011 for the following types of vessels:
  - for vessels with Ice 1 Class (ЛУ 1) and less;
  - for vessels with main engine capacity 3 500 hp and less.

The restrictions are introduced in order to provide safety navigation in ice conditions on the approach fairways to seaports of the Gulf of Finland eastern part on the basis of the ice conditions actual state and development prognosis.

With current actual situation being specified, restrictions introduction terms can be changed.

At the moment icebreaker assistance for vessels calling at the Greater port Saint Petersburg is implemented by the Saint Petersburg branch icebreakers Semen Dezhnev, Kapitan Zarubin, Mudyug, Ivan Kruzenshtern and Kapitan Sorokin. From the winter navigation 2010-2011 beginning the branch icebreakers have implemented almost 1000 assistances for vessels calling at the Greater port Saint Petersburg.
