Pilots of the Murmansk Branch provide pilotage assistance for a towed self-lifting floating drilling rig in the Kola Bay

On July 19, 2023, the pilotage service of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch successfully carried out pilotage of a towed self-lifting floating drilling rig Arkticheskaya (flag of Russia).

The pilotage operation was carried out by pilots Andrey Lysov, Vladlen Alpero and Gennady Kuznetsov of the Murmansk Branch.

With the help of three port tugs, the drilling rig was taken away from the berth to the raid of the seaport of Murmansk, where it was held until the main tow lines with two powerful sea tugs got involved.

After the main towing lines got involved, the self-lifting floating drilling rig Arkticheskaya was towed to the exit from the Kola Bay for further passage to the place of exploration drilling in the Kara Sea.

All maneuvers lasted more than 8 hours. While the tow order was on its way, the “Special caution” signal was announced in the Kola Bay.
