Arkhangelsk Branch releases juvenile salmon into the Onega River

The FSUE “Rosmorport” Arkhangelsk Branch carried out the final release of juvenile fish in 2023 as part of measures aimed at compensating for damage to aquatic biological resources.

Two-year-old salmon with an average weight of more than 12 g in the amount of 7,054 pieces that had been grown by the Solzensky production and experimental salmon plant on the order of the Arkhangelsk Branch, was released into the river on November 30.

The release was organized in order to compensate for damage to aquatic biological resources and their habitat caused during dredging operations in the delta of the Northern Dvina River and in the Dvina Bay of the White Sea in 2022. The expenses of the branch for the implementation of the compensatory measures amounted to more than 6 million rubles.

This is the third release of juvenile fish organized by the Arkhangelsk Branch this year. The previous ones were held in August and in October in Arkhangelsk Region and in the Republic of Karelia, respectively. The total expensed of the branch for the release of juvenile fish in water bodied in 2023 amounted to almost 17.5 million rubles.
