In the presence of representatives of state control and supervisory authorities, on July 3, 2023, the release of juvenile Russian sturgeon to the Volga River took place.

These compensatory measures were carried out by the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch in order to compensate for damage caused to aquatic biological resources during repair dredging on the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal in 2021.

The juvenile Russian sturgeon with an average weight of 3 g, grown by Order of the Astrakhan Branch by a specialized fish-breeding plant, was released in the amount of almost 117.8 thousand pieces.

The total expenses of the branch for the implementation of these environmental measures amounted to more than 2.6 million rubles.

According to the plan of compensation measures agreed with Federal Agency for Fishery, it will be the only release in 2023.
