Icebreaking season started in the Sea of Azov

The period of icebreaking was announced in the seaports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog.

Icebreakers of FSUE "Rosmorport" began to carry out icebreaking assistance along the Azov-Don Sea Canal. The icebreaker Kapitan Chudinov is currently operating at the Azov-Don Sea Canal.

Over the past day, the icebreaker Kapitan Demidov and the icebreaking tug Georgy Sedov also provided icebreaking assistance for vessel caravans through the canal.

The icebreaker fleet of the Azov Basin Branch includes three 4,815 kW icebreakers of the R-1191 project: Kapitan Demidov, Kapitan Moshkin and Kapitan Chudinov, the icebreaker-pusher-rescue tug Fanagoria of 614 kW, the icebreaking tug Georgy Sedov with a total capacity of 3900 kW with the category of ice strengthening Arc5.

In addition, the 4,650-kW Project 1105 icebreaker Kapitan Zarubin of the North-Western Basin Branch was placed under the operational control of the branch, and the icebreaker of the same project Kapitan Krutov of the Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch is ready to start operations in the seaport of Eysk.

FSUE "Rosmorport" provides services of icebreaker support for vessels in 15 freezing seaports of Russia and on the approaches to them, as well as services for icebreaker support for navigation of vessels in ice in other sea basins of the World Ocean. The icebreaking support services begin at different times.
