The Crimean Branch of FSUE "Rosmorport" received a set of 26 scarlet sails for the training sailing boat Khersones.

The crew has already removed the white sails and started setting new ones. The complete re-equipment of the sails on the training boat Khersones will take 10-15 days. Both crew members and cadets undergoing swimming practice on board will participate in the works on the masts.

The total area of the sails is about 2.7 thousand square meters. The largest of them — the mainsail and the foresail — occupy an area of 214 and 208 square meters.

The training boat Khersones is one of three training three-masted frigates of FSUE "Rosmorport". The boat was designed by the Polish designer Zygmunt Choren on the prototype of sailing vessels of the early twentieth century. The training boat Khersones became world famous due to the fact that it rounded Cape Horn, still considered an ominous place among sailors, under sail with the engines turned off. Later, the boat set another record by sailing round the Cape of Good Hope — this is also considered top class among sailors.
