FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers provide pilotage services in 5 Russian seaports

FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers provide pilotage services in 5 seaports of Russia, where the start of ice pilotages has already been announced. In 2020, the enterprise began to carry out ice pilotages from December 7.

Today, pilotage services are carried out in the seaports of responsibility of two FSUE “Rosmorport” branches, Azov Basin Branch and Astrakhan Branch. Icebreakers Kapitan Chudinov, Kapitan Demidov, Kapitan Moshkin, Kapitan Metsayk, Kapitan Kharchikov and Fanagoria of the Azov Basin Branch operate in the seaports of Rostov-on-Don, Azov and Taganrog. Icebreakers Kapitan Chechkin, Kapitan Bukaev and Georgiy Sedov of the Astrakhan Branch operate in the seaports of Astrakhan, Olya and along the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Channel.

The main group of FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers is prepared for winter.

Today Viktor Chernomyrdin icebreaker, the flagship of the enterprise fleet, is a part of the operating reserve. It will operate in the Gulf of Finland when the icebreaking period in the Baltic Basin begins.

The icebreaking group of FSUE “Rosmorport” is the largest in the world. The enterprise fleet includes 36 icebreakers and icebreaker tugs of various capacities in total.
