FSUE "Rosmorport" took part in the X International Forum "Arctic: Present and Future"

FSUE "Rosmorport" became a participant in the X International Forum "Arctic: Present and Future". During the section "Shipbuilding for the needs of the Arctic: fleet renewal and new technologies" Vasily Strugov, the FSUE "Rosmorport" Deputy General Director for Fleet presented a report on the work of the company's icebreaker and dredging fleet in the Arctic and the prospects for its development.

FSUE "Rosmorport" owns the largest icebreaker fleet in the world. It consists of 36 icebreakers and icebreaking tugs of various classes and capacities. It is planned that by 2030 the number of the company's icebreakers will increase to 39, and their average age will decrease by 12 years - to 25.

As part of the Comprehensive Plan for the Modernization and Expansion of the Main Transport Infrastructure until 2030, FSUE "Rosmorport" plans to build 10 icebreakers with a total cost of over 70 billion rubles, including two icebreakers of Icebreaker7 ice class with a capacity of 18 megawatt for the Far Eastern and North-Western Basin Branches. The keel-laying of the vessel for the Far Eastern Basin Branch took place at the end of October 2020.

In addition, it is planned to build two auxiliary icebreakers of Icebreaker7 ice class with a capacity of 12-14 megawatt for operation in the White and Baltic Seas, four 6 megawatt shallow icebreakers of 22740M project for freezing ports of the Caspian and Azov basins and two port icebreakers with a capacity of 6-8 megawatt to ensure the freezing ports of the Far East basin year-round operation.

FSUE "Rosmorport" icebreakers ensure year-round availability of 15 freezing seaports of Russia, as well as icebreaking support of the Utrenniy sea terminal of the Sabetta seaport and on the accesses to it.

The company's icebreakers also take part in unique operations. Last year, the Dikson icebreaker towed the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant from Murmansk to Pevek. The Kapitan Dranitsyn and Admiral Makarov icebreakers, as part of the MOSAiC research project, provided the delivery of supplies, replacement crews and scientists to a drifting station in the Arctic. FSUE "Rosmorport" is the official partner of the polar expedition from Russia.
