Khersones sailing ship took part in the opening ceremony of the monument dedicated to the General Peter Kotlyarevsky in Feodosia

The Khersones sailing training ship of the FSUE "Rosmorport" took part in the opening ceremony of the monument dedicated to the General of the Infantry Peter Kotlyarevsky, which was installed on the embankment of Feodosia.

The event was led by Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Colonel General Andrei Kartapolov and Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky.

The ceremony was attended by the director of the FSUE "Rosmorport" Crimean Branch Andrei Filchakov, the governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev, the chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Nikolai Ovsienko, Chief of Headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation Igor Smolyak and head of the FSBI "Administration of the Black Sea Seaports" Evgeny Tuzinkevich.

The Khersones sailing ship, as well as four ships of the Black Sea Fleet – the Admiral Makarov frigate, the Orekhovo-Zuyevo small missile ship, the Dmitry Rogachev patrol ship and the Samum hovercraft - were put in the front line on the outer raid of the Feodosia seaport.

During the ceremony, the group of ships of the Black Sea Fleet fired salute volleys from ship guns accompanied by the National Anthem of the Russian Federation.

Peter Stepanovich Kotlyarevsky (1782-1851) is an infantry general, participant of the Russo-Persian and Russo-Turkish wars, conqueror of South Caucasus. He had such nicknames as the Meteor General and Caucasian Suvorov. After retiring he spent the rest of his life in Feodosia.
