FSUE "Rosmorport" took part in the 4th сonference "LNG Fleet, LNG Bunkering and Other Alternatives". It was organized by the PortNews Information and Analytical Agency. The event was supported by Rosmorrechflot and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.

At the "LNG Fleet, LNG Bunkering and Other Alternatives" сonference, Denis Gursky - Deputy Head of the Shipbuilding Projects and Support Department of the Fleet Development and Construction Directorate of FSUE "Rosmorport", made a presentation on the implementation of the company's projects in the field of usage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other alternatives for compliance with environmental standards.

At the moment, for the benefit of FSUE "Rosmorport", two sustainable dual-fuel automobile and railroad ferries "Marshal Rokossovsky" and "General Chernyakhovsky" are being built for the railway ferry crossing "Ust-Luga - Baltiysk", capable of operating on both low sulfur fuel and liquefied natural gas. Using clean fuel will reduce carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere by 20-30%, nitrogen oxides by over 90%, sulfur oxides, and carbon black by 100% compared to similar vessels operating on traditional heavy fuel.

The FSUE "Rosmorport" icebreakers under construction, as well as those planned for construction, also meet all modern environmental requirements.

Within the framework of the conference, the issues related to the operation of LNG vessels and implementation of projects in the sphere of LNG use on vessels were discussed, the possibility of using other types of fuel that meet the modern ecological requirements today and in the future, and proposals of the companies on the supply of specialized equipment and materials to ensure the work of vessels operating on natural gas were also presented.
