The volume of cargo processing in Russian seaports decreased by 2.1 % in the first 7 months of this year

The volume of cargo processing in the seaports of Russia for the first 7 months of this year decreased by 2.1 % and amounted to 474.77 million tons, the press service of Rosmorrechflot reported on Monday. The decline in volumes occurred for the first time in 24 years in the midst of economic hard times related to quarantine measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. The fall in bulk cargo transshipment in the Arctic, Baltic and Azov-Black sea basins determined the negative dynamics in general.

The cargo turnover of Russian seaports in January-July 2020 amounted to 474.77 million tons (-2.1 %) compared to the same period last year, the volume of transshipment of dry goods amounted to 221.34 million tons (+2.9 %), bulk cargo - 253.43 million tons (-6.1 %).

The cargo turnover of the seaports of the Arctic basin amounted to 54.53 million tons (-10.2 %), of which the volume of transshipment of dry goods was 15.69 million tons (-11.0 %), and liquid cargo - 38.84 million tons (-9.9 %).

The cargo turnover of the seaports of the Baltic basin amounted 144.86 million tons (-4.3 %), of which the volume of transshipment of dry goods was 63.68 million tons (-1.7 %), and liquid cargo – 81.18 million tons (-6.3 %).

The cargo turnover of the seaports of the Azov-Black sea basin amounted 141.69 million tons (-2.1 %), of which the volume of transshipment of dry goods was 57.13 million tons (+9.8 %), bulk cargo – 84.56 million tons (-8.9 %).

The cargo turnover of the seaports of the Caspian basin amounted 4.93 million tons (+15.7 %), of which the volume of transshipment of dry goods was 2.12 million tons (+28.4 %), and liquid cargo – 2.81 million tons (+7.7 %).

The cargo turnover of the seaports of the Far Eastern basin amounted to 128.76 million tons (+3.9 %), of which the volume of transshipment of dry goods was 82.72 million tons (+4.6 %), and liquid cargo – 46.04 million tons (+2.79 %).
