The Morskaya self-propelled hopper launched at the Onego Shipyard

A solemn ceremony of launching a self-propelled hopper of NV-600 Morskaya project, being built by order of FSUE “Rosmorport”, was held at the Onego Shipyard.

Natalia Ugarova, an engineer of the planning and dispatching department of the Onego Shipyard, became the godmother of the vessel. According to naval tradition, she broke a bottle of champagne on the vessel's head. Natalia Aleksandrovna's total experience in the shipbuilding industry is over 25 years. The fate of several generations of this family is connected with the sea.

The agreement for the design and construction of two hoppers with a hold volume of 600 m3 (the Morskaya and Smelaya hoppers) between FSUE "Rosmorport" and Onego Shipyard was signed in October 2018, and work began on October 15, 2018.

Russian equipment, as well as equipment and materials from the countries of the Customs Union, were used to the maximum extent during the construction of the vessels. The vessel's propelling unit was assembled in Russia. The hull of the vessel is modular and has simplified contours, which reduces the cost of construction of the vessel. Main propulsion machinery is of container type. Placing the engine room on the exposed deck will make it possible to inspect and repair the pod drives without putting the vessel to the dockage facility.

The project for a series of vessels was developed by ZAO "Spetssudoproekt", and the project to improve the technical characteristics of vessels was finalized by JSC "I-Sfera". For example, a transverse bow propeller, the main engines, pod drives of high power, and an emergency diesel generator (32 kW) were installed. For the convenience of maneuvering the vessel, the location of the control console in the deck-house was changed and control indicators were installed in the SRP on the bridge wings. In addition, propeller screw protection is installed on the pod drives, an autopilot is installed, the height of the hold compartment coaming is changed to 1 meter for the convenience of dredging.

The construction is carried out under the supervision and in accordance with the requirements of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. It is planned that the hoppers will operate in the Azovo-Chernomorsky basin (Novorossiysk seaport) and Makhachkala branches of FSUE "Rosmorport".

Main dimensions and characteristics of vessels:

Maximum length, m 56.1
Maximum width, m 11.2
Height of the broadside on the middle section, m 4.0
Freeboard draft, m 2.92
Volume of the hopper along the upper edge of the coaming, m3    600
Full load displacement, about, tons 1,540

For reference:

Onego shipyard has already built two similar vessels with a hold volume of 600 m3. The Trudovaya hopper was delivered to the customer on November 27, 2018 at the port of Temryuk and the Silnaya hopper - December 11, 2018 at the port of Makhachkala. The Rabochaya hopper with a hold volume of 900 m3 (port of reference Novorossiysk) was transferred to the customer on June 20, 2019, since autumn 2019 it has been operating in the seaport of Kavkaz.
