FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director discusses maritime policy and port infrastructure development in Kaliningrad

FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Lavrishchev took part in a session of the Maritime Board at the Government of the Russian Federation on October 12, 2018. The session was chaired of Vice-Prime Minister Yuri Borisov.

The session was attended by Russian presidential aide Igor Levitin, Navy Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Kovalev, heads of Russian regions, agencies and enterprises of the maritime industry.

The participants in the session discussed the implementation of national maritime policy in the field of marine exploration and the realization of the 2013-2030 state program for shipbuilding development and technical equipment to open shelf deposits.

The session will result in working out plans on prospects for the development of the industry.

On the same day the participants in the meeting gathered for a session devoted to the implementation of the project “The Construction of the Port Infrastructure in the Seaport of Kaliningrad. The International Sea Terminal for Receiving Cruise and Cargo Passenger Ships in Pionersky, Kaliningrad Region”.

Russian Deputy Transport Minister, Rosmorrechflot head Yuri Tsvetkov, his deputy Nadezhda Zhikhareva, and FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Lavrishchev inspected the pace of the construction.

The meeting involving representatives of the Kaliningrad Region Government and the Administration of Pionersky discussed the construction of the terminal and the external infrastructure, as well as plans to use it during the operation.

FSUE “Rosmorport” acts as a developer of the facilities of the international sea terminal comprised of berthing and protecting facilities, coastal protection structures, water areas, artificial plots of land, the building of the passenger terminal, on-site utilities, and coastal facilities of traffic control points. The sea terminal building and runoff water systems will be built on the funds of private investors. The terminal intends to receive up to 300.000 people and up to 90.000 cars per year.

The project is implemented by the enterprise under the Russian target program “The Development of the Transport System”. In the future it will open the way for tourists and give an impetus to the development of cruise navigation.

At present, hydraulic operations are carried out to build a berth for vessels of the port fleet and Passenger Berth No 1, seacoast defenses, the guard and eastern moles. The operations are currently underway to lay the foundation of seacoast buildings to the amount, which responds to the schedule.
