From November 11 till November 13, 2018 the final competitions of the Children Division of the National Sailing League took place in the maritime area of the Artek international children center.

This year the regatta of the Russian Yachting Federation took place in 6 stages. The geography of events is impressing with its scale. The competitions took place in Sochi, Saint Petersburg, Vladivostok and Sevastopol.

This regatta for young athletes was organized for the first time. The holding of competitions of the Children Division became possible thanks to the support of FSUE "Rosmorport", which acted as the event partner.

86 children from different parts of the country from age 9 to 14 participated in competitions on the territory of Yalta. Children arrived from Sevastopol, Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Moscow and the Moscow region, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod region.

The first day was the warmest and most working in terms of wind conditions. By the end of the competitions the weather began to change – wind gusts reached 28 knots, and the temperature fell to +4 degrees. In just 2 days over 9 races were played, during which young admirers of the sea were able to show their skills and test their agility and resilience.

Taking into account the age of the participants, the regatta results were summed up in several scoring groups. The regatta committee also summed up the informal team scoring. Athletes from Gelendzhik, Sevastopol, Novorossiysk and Moscow were among the leaders.

Such events are important for the professional orientation of children and teenagers. Fascinating competitions allow to raise interest in sports and seafaring among the younger generation.
