FSUE “Rosmorport” ensured navigation safety in 2018

One of the priorities of the FSUE “Rosmorport” activities is to ensure navigation safety. In 2018 the enterprise rendered these services by using the following navigation safety systems (NSS):
- 25 vessel tracking management systems (VTS);
- 10 stations of NAVTEX coast radio systems;
- 41 coast stations of GMDSS Sea Area A1;
- 18 coast stations of GMDSS Sea Area A2;
- eight control correcting stations of the GLONASS/GPS Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS);
- 11 control correcting stations of base stations of the Automatic Identification System (AIS).

In 2018 FSUE “Rosmorport” VTS rendered services for more than 900,000 vessels.

In 2018 FSUE “Rosmorport” ended the works for reconstructing the VTS Gulf of Finland (the 2nd stage), VTS Sochi, as well as technical re-equipping of the VTS Kerch and the facilities of the GMDSS Sea Area A1 of the seaport of Sevastopol and reconstructing a NAVTEX coast radio station in the seaport of Kholmsk.

This year the enterprise has started the operations on technical re-equipping of the facilities of the GMDSS Sea Area A1 of the seaport of Tuapse and the reconstruction of the VTS building in the seaport of Makhachkala. The operations are planned to be ended in 2019.

FSUE “Rosmorport” provides navigation hydrographic support in Russian seaports. In 2018 the number of aids to navigation under economic management of the enterprise increased by 103 units.

As of today these are 2,503 units (72,9 %) of aids to navigation out of 3,434 units in water areas of seaports and on the approaches toward them. On the ground the respective divisions of the branches organized a comprehensive system of maintenance of aids to navigation on the base of maintenance parks, the existing mark boats and survey vessels.

In 2018 FSUE “Rosmorport” ended the reconstruction of the aids to navigation base on the Rybachiy peninsula in the seaport of Kaliningrad. Within the measures aimed at renovating the fleet for the Kaliningrad Directorate of the North-Western Basin Branch the Fortuna mark boat was built and put into operation. The enterprise acquired the Taifon mark boat for the Arkhangelsk Branch.

The bottom configuration survey of the ports’ water areas and on the approaches toward them remains the priority task to ensure navigation safety. The operations carried out by the FSUE “Rosmorport” branches in 2018 to control the dimensions of navigable facilities of the ports’ water areas and dredging operations amounted to 7,304 kilometers of surveying and 41,236 hectares of the bottom configuration areal survey. A total of 99.98% (41,234 hectares) of the required amount of areal survey has been made of the enterprise’s divisions.

In 2018 FSUE “Rosmorport” carried out survey operations in the inner harbor of the seaport of Sabetta, the approach and marine shipping canal. The materials received during the surveying operations are used for editing and correcting sea navigational maps.

The pilotage of vessels is one of the key parts of the comprehensive navigation safety system. A total of 585 qualified pilots, who make pilotage services at 53 Russian seaports, work in FSUE “Rosmorport”.

Since June 2018 FSUE “Rosmorport” has rendered pilotage services at the seaport of Makhachkala and since August the enterprise has rendered such services at the seaport of Mezen.
