FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrei Lavrishchev takes part in discussions devoted to the implementation of the Northern Sea Route project

An inter-departmental meeting was held at Rosmorrechflot on January 24, 2019 to discuss preparations for and measures to coordinate a plan for implementing the Northern Sea Route project.

The meeting led by Russian Deputy Transport Minister, head of Rosmorrechflot Yuri Tsvetkov, Russia’s Transport Ministry Department for the State Policy in Maritime and Inland Transport Yuri Kostin, the deputies to the Rosmorrechflot head – Nadezhda Zhikhareva and Konstantin Stasyuk, FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrei Lavrishchev, representatives of the agencies and organizations taking part in the implementation of the federal project.

In his speech Yuri Tsvetkov said several meetings had been held at the agency with the participation of the parties concerned. Based on the data on the volume of shipments on the Northern Sea Route and consignors’ availability the fleet formed up and submitted a plan for implementing the Northern Sea Route federal project.

The Rosmorrechflot head proposed the participants in the meeting to discuss several unsettled problems, including the disagreements on assessing the increase in the cargo base of the project and specifying the quantity of tankers and bulkers to ensure the calculated amount of transported loads and checking with control points (key stages) of certain events of the plan.

The consignee organizations have been given recommendations by the federal executive authorities and the Russian Navigation Chamber. The participants in the session noted the importance to develop a constructive dialogue in order to settle the disagreements arising during the implementation of projects in the Arctic region.

Following the results of the meeting the plan will be finalized and submitted to the government transport commission’s inter-departmental working group for the Northern Sea Route development.
