The Mir takes first shift of cadets aboard during 2019 navigation

Practical training started on the Mir sailing ship on April 25, 2019. It will last till July 08, 2019.

A total of 132 students of the industry’s higher educational establishments take part in the training. Young sailors are to study key elements of the frigate’s construction, international and national documents on navigation safety.

Ahead of the training a send-off ceremony has been held in the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Military Education “Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping”. A solemn parade also took place.

Deputy director for the personnel and administrative issues of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch Alexander Strelnikov congratulated young sailors on starting navigation and expressed confidence that they would honorably represent our country abroad, carry out all tasks and successfully sharpen their skills on practice.

During the first voyage, the Mir sailing ship will visit the ports of Germany, France and the Netherlands. The cadets will take part in a fascinating journey. They will acquire primary skills to work at sea and familiarize themselves with the art of navigation.
