Detachments of the flotilla were named as crews. The names were given in honor of a certain ship. Crewmembers took young sailors under their patronage. Every year a march was held to remember the victims of the Great Patriotic War. On the initiative of young sailors obelisks were erected in nearest villages. Several years later the Moryak recreation and retreat center was opened.
