FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Lavrishchev met with the heads of the seaports and sea terminals of the Azovo-Chernomorsky and Caspian Sea Basins in Sochi on October 30, 2019 to exchange views on developing the infrastructure and digital services, perfecting technologies for organizing movement and regulatory control. The meeting was chaired by general director, board chairman of Russian Railways JSC Oleg Belozerov.

Seventeen seaports of the Azovo-Chernormorsky Basin and three seaports of the Caspian Sea Basin are located in the Southern region of Russia. In 2018 the above-mentioned seaports provided transshipment of 277 million tons of cargoes that is 1.2% higher compared with the similar period of 2017. The amount of cargo transshipment by railways via the seaports of the Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin increased by 1.5 times in 2010-2018 and reached 84 million tons last year.

In his speech Andrey Lavrishchev noted that for the period till 2024 the additional need of the seaports of the Azovo-Chernormorsky Basin in lines turnover is estimated in the amount of at least 50 million tons. Such need has been synchronized with the plans set by Russian Railways JSC.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director stressed the need to conduct regular joint monitoring of the market situation, renovate forecasts of cargo flows and upgrade plans for developing railways and port industry.

One should recall that in September 2019 FSUE “Rosmorport” and Russian Railways JSC signed a memorandum on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum to maintain cooperation while synchronizing the development of the infrastructure of railways and sea terminals. Bilateral cooperation is aimed at making supplies of cargoes to the port rhythmic and uninterrupted and making cargo transshipment rational, improving the use of the transport infrastructure at the junction of railways and maritime transport.
