FSUE “Rosmorport” receives the largest cruise liner in the history of Russia

Next to the Costa Venezia liner which FSUE “Rosmoport” had presented to the guests of and participants in the Eastern Economic Forum as a floating hotel, the seaport of Vladivostok has received the Spectrum of the Seas liner – the largest liner to have ever called at Russian ports. This is the first liner of Quantum Ultra Class. Its length is 347 meters, the breadth is 41 meters and displacement is 168,866 tons.

Almost 5,000 passengers from 30 countries arrived in the capital of Primorye aboard a vessel of the Royal Caribbean cruise company on September 9, 2019. On-stage groups, who performed Russian national songs and dances, greeted the guests of the city on the berth. While in Vladivostok tourists will go sightseeing and take a ride on the Trans-Siberian Highway.

The call of the Spectrum of the Sea liner became a landmark event. A solemn ceremony organized on the initiative of the liner’s captain involved Primorsky Territoiry Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, the leadership of the city, representatives of FSUE “Rosmorport” and the administration of the seaport of Vladivostok. In his greetings speech Oleg Kozhemyako said that the call of the unique passenger liner proves the effectiveness of the work to promote the region on the international cruise market. The governor added that the call of such large vessel had been held due to the dredging operations carried out by FSUE “Rosmorport”.

In order to develop the tourist cluster in the Far East in 2018 the FSUE “Rosmorport” Far Eastern Basin Branch held the events to provide the entry of cruise liners to the region’s seaports. Based on the results of the dredging operations the depth in the water area of Berth No 1 and Berth No 2 of the seaport of Vladivostok has been brought to the project parameters (no less than 9.7 meters). Excavated ground amounted to 5,200 cubic meters.

The Spectrum of the Seas liner has become the 10th vessel among 15 cruise liners that is planning to call at the seaport of Vladivostok before the yearend. The liner will leave for Japan soon to visit the ports of Maizuru and Fukuoka. It will return to Shanghai on September 14.
