Nadezhda sailing ship preparing to take part in Far East Tall Ships Regatta

Nadezhda sailing ship moored in the seaport of Yeosu (South Korea) on August 26, 2018 to prepare for the SCF Far East Tall Ships Regatta.

The start of the main race is scheduled for September, 1. It will go along the Yeosu-Vladivostok route. The participants in the regatta will arrive in Vladivostok on September 9. In addition to the FSUE “Rosmorport” frigate, dozens of ships from other world countries such as Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, and New Zealand will take part in the competitions.

At present, fairs and musical concerts, performances and sports events are held in the Korean resort city under the regatta’s program. The guests and residents of Yeosu can take part in these events.

Before the competitions the Nadezhda frigate will hospitably open its board for all comers. Cadets of the industry’s educational institutions undergoing training on the ship will conduct excursions on the vessel. Young sailors will demonstrate the sailing ship’s construction and lifestyle aboard one of the most beautiful ships to the guests and tell the visitors about maritime professions. Visitors will have a lucky opportunity to attend the command bridge, stand abaft the wheel, and see cadets’ cabins and classrooms.

The regatta will allow local residents to join in the romantic appeal of maritime traveling. Such an event is a unique possibility for the cadets to apply knowledge into practice. The cadets will learn professional sails handling and work as a crew, as well as test their endurance and moral courage.
