Sailing ship “Mir” finished the Baltic sailing races

The third stage of the Tall Ships Races 2017 on the route Klaipeda (Lithuania) - Szczecin (Poland) was finished on August 5, 2017.

Dozens of sailing ships under the flags of various countries of the world finished an exciting race in the Baltic Sea and arrived in the capital of Western Pomerania. Upon the arrival of the ships, the participants of the races, locals and tourists could celebrate the final of the competition. The guests of the event were offered a fascinating program: music concerts, plays, fairs and various performances. The spectators were shown the colorful Crew Parade. Arriving race participants created a magical atmosphere in the Polish city, turning it into a sailing capital of Europe for a while.
In Szczecin, on the frigate “Mir”, an “open board” was organized and excursions were conducted for all interested people. A special visit was organized for the students of the Maritime Academy of the city. The crew of the sailing ship has acquainted guests with the structure of the frigate and the way of life on one of the most beautiful and fastest ships.
This year the sailing ship “Mir” turns 30 years old. In honor of this significant date, Zygmunt Choreń, the chief designer of the sailing ship project, came on board of the sailing ship (other sailing ships of the FSUE “Rosmorport” – “Nadezhda” and “Khersones” were also built under this project). In the course of the visit to the sailing ship, Zygmunt Choreń left a memorable inscription in the distinguished visitors' book.

The riding of the frigate in Poland will last till August 8, 2017. Then the sailing ship “Mir” will go to Warnemünde (Germany) to participate in the Hanse Sail Races 2017.
