FSUE “Rosmorport” Takes Part in Marine Operations on Transportation of Arch Spans of Kerch Strait Bridge

On August 2, 2017 the first pontoon boat designed for installing arches of the Kerch Strait Bridge was moored at the Zaliv Shipyard (Kerch). Its length is over 60 meters, the breadth is 35 meters, the height is about 12 meters. Successful pilotage of the floating support has been provided by first-category pilot Yuri Yerokhin of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Crimea Basin Branch. The second pontoon boat is expected to arrive soon.

In August–September 2017 the pontoons will carry highway and railway arches to pillars of the bridge under construction for their further installation. It is expected that this maritime operation will be carried out with the minimal restrictions of navigation in the Kerch Strait. One-time suspension of movement on the Kerch-Yenikal Canal fairway will not exceed three days.

Preparations for transportation and installation of arch spans of the Kerch Strait Bridge are underway according to schedule.

FSUE “Rosmorport” Kerch and Kavkaz vessel tracking management systems will ensure navigation safety in the Kerch Strait in the course of the maritime operation in the bridge construction area. The most experienced pilots of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Crimea Basin Branch will be involved in the operations for transporting the arch spans to the installation site.
