The Khersones training sailing ship arrived at the port of Feodosia on July 28, 2017 to take part in the festive events devoted to the 20th anniversary of Ivan Aivazovsky's birth.

The ship was attended by Deputy Chairwoman of Crimea's Council of Ministers Larisa Opanasyuk, Crimean Culture Minister Arina Novoselskaya, head of the Feodosia City District Municipal Entity Svetlana Gevchuk and Archbishop Ezras Nersisyan, head of the Russian and Novo-Nakhichevanskya Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church.

FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Tarasenko welcomed the honorable guests. In his speech he noted that for the first time the Khersones sailing ship had made its call at the port of Feodosia. It is remarkable that this happened in honor of the 200^th anniversary of the great marine painter's birth. The legendary ship became a true decoration of the holiday. On this day the ship's crew is ready to warmly accept all those who wish to go aboard the ship.

The vessel's captain, Dmitry Teslenko, conducted an excursion of the sailing ship and told the guests about its history and acquainted them with the crew.

During the festivities, the sailing ship worked in a regime of open board. That day those who wished were able to embark the ship, have an excursion aboard the vessel, to take part in competitions. Experienced sailors gave master classes for those who wished to bend nautical knots.

The performance of city musical groups became the musical present for the residents and guests of Feodosia.

The program of the holiday envisions open lessons in drawing conducted by marine painter Oleg Tantsyura. The legendary Khersones sailing ship  inspired participants in the “Sea is Within Doors” plein-air to paint marine pictures.

During the festive events, the awards were given to the participants in and the winners of the “Ivan Aivazovsky Prize” jubilee regatta of the Federation of Sailing of the Republic of Crimea.
