Kapitan Dranitsyn icebreaker has started operations in the seaport of Pevek after the winter standby period due to ice motion. According to earlier reports, the Kapitan Dranitsyn icebreaker conducted overwintering in the seaport of Pevek to ensure the safe mooring of Iogan Makhamstal and Sinegorsk vessels that delivered general cargoes – materials and component parts to build a terminal – in January 2017 under icebreaker support of the FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers Kapitan Dranitsyn and Admiral Makarov. It is planned to deploy the Mikhail Lomonosov floating nuclear NPP at the berth.

Kapitan Dranitsyn icebreaker together with dry cargo vessels has changed its mooring to a safer location. While in the port of Pevek, the icebreaker will provide safe mooring of vessels until the ice situation improves.
