Nadezhda Sailing Ship Expedition Under Protection

The Nadezhda sailing ship continues the 2017 training expedition. Cadets of Nevelsky Maritime State University (Vladivostok) are undergoing training aboard the ship.

At present, the sailing ship is moving through dangerous pirate areas. The Admiral Vladimirsky oceanographic research ship of Russia’s Navy aboard of which an anti-terrorist group involving Russia’s Navy marine is deployed ensures safety of the ship in sea areas of the Gulf of Aden.

The Nadezhda sailing ship and the Admiral Vladimirsky met on May 25 in the designated point in the southern part of the Red Sea. Both ships will move through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, the Gulf of Aden. They will arrive on Socorta Island (the Indian Ocean) on May 30. Then the Nadezhda will continue the expedition independently.
